Installation:
Click the attached installer. Missions will appear as a specific category: "A week at Oshkosh". It is very advisable to run the missions in its chronological order. English and Spanish version are available.

Configuration:
To be able to see all objects in "A Week at Oshkosh AirVenture", scenery object configuration must be set at "Very dense" or "Extremely dense". If running from older machines or detecting performance impact, set scenery to "Normal" or "Dense".

Details:

PREVIOUS FLIGHT: On Sunday, July 25th you will take off from Manitowoc heading to Oshkosh, where you will have a great week. However it's already late and the sun is about to set... you don't have much time left. Your co-pilot will entertain your flight with the history behind Oshkosh AirVenture, the most important aviation celebration in the world.

MONDAY: It is your first day at Oshkosh. You will enjoy a pleasant sailplane flight. After being towed to 5000 feet, you might encounter updrafts and downdrafts. But an experienced pilot as you will have no problems with them. Your friends will be flying hot air balloons and would like to take snapshots from you, as long as you can come close to them.

TUESDAY: One of the main attractions at Oshkosh is its formation flights. Here you will join, keep and land with a three Douglas DC3 formation, one of which will be you. It isn't easy but the formation leader will give you all indications you may need during flight. If you keep the formation you will later see a nice video of your flight shot from the control tower.

WEDNESDAY: There's always one bad weather day at Oshkosh! There's been an accident in the lake involving a diver. You must help in the rescue. But a large storm has broken, and lightning can strike! Your instruments may be gone. Would you be able to return with just the stick and ball? You should attempt it

THURSDAY: Stand by for boarding! You could think nothing better than scare the hell out of the boats down in the lake, bombarding them... with harmless flour bags! Oh well, perhaps... who knows... you might get to see a ghost ship. Old folks call them "The Sulphur Queen". And don't miss the fantastic landing you'll have to perform on the lower deck of a ferry at anchor.

FRIDAY: Had you ever participated in a precision landing match? Well, today's the day. They've painted some strips on the runway. You must show your prowess by landing on the green strip aboard six different aircraft. Will you get enough points for your reward?

SATURDAY: Race! Pit yourself against three other in a thrilling race. You'll get to see one of the biggest features of the Oshkosh week, when the hosts will fill the runway ditch with gasoline... and set it in flames!

SUNDAY: After a vibrant week at Oshkosh, today we'll engage in a RC model show. You'll choose among three models of various performance, and you'll demonstrate your prowess at RC flying. The three models have been modified to simulate the exact behaviour and performance of an RC model in your simulator. Will you be able to do a torque roll with the RC Extra?

]]>US Cities X is a series of city scenery for FSX that covers US cities created by LimeSim. Based on an extensive aerial image it will have all the major buildings and landmarks plus all the heliports that are inside the covered areas.

It is clearly intended to fill the gap between the default scenery and very high dense city scenery such as Manhattan X, London VFR or Venice X. Because the file size is rather large due to the ground image it only includes one season (in most cases this is not a real issue) and no night textures. The VFR flights over these cities is mostly a day time affair anyway. The third in this range is New Orleans.

]]>Remember the good old days when MS Flight Simulator dropped you in Meigs Field for your first flight lessons? Meigs was sadly closed a few years ago but now it`s back in FS(X)! Together with the fourth, largest city and windiest in the US Cities range so far: Chicago!

This scenery will bring you Chicago with as much detail as you never seen before. In this scenery there are hints to the past as it includes Merrill C Meigs fiels and (optional) a glimpse of the future as you are able to see the Chicago Spire, a skyscraper in development that will put Chicago back at the top of skyscraper cities.

Pacific Islands Simulation - Kosrae International Airport

]]>With a population of nearly 8000, Kosrae is the most eastern of the Caroline Islands, Federated States of Micronesia. The island is located 370 mi (590 km) north of the equator, between Guam and the Hawaiian Islands. Its land area is 42 mi² (110 km²). Kosrae has high mountains that is largely unspoiled and rarely visited. Kosrae is fast becoming a destination for scuba divers, hikers and tourists. Dense vegetation and steep mountains keep the island largely undeveloped. Viewed from the sea, the island's distinct shape resembles a female body. This has led to the island being called "the island of the sleeping lady."

Kosrae International airport, located on the northwestern coast of the island, is served by Continental Micronesia Airline's "Island Hopper" flights (three times a week in each direction) between Hawaii and Guam, stopping at other FSM and Marshallese destinations on the way. Specifically, the "island hopper" employs the venerable B737-800 (and the occassional B767-300) which usually begins in each direction (from Honolulu and Guam) via Majuro and Kwajelain atolls (Republic of Marshall Islands), Kosrae, Pohnpei and Chuuk (Federated States of Micronesia). Once a month tourists also arrive on an chartered B727 including weekly freight runs by DHL and Fedex.

Kosrae International Airport was developed on a medium system for medium to high-end computers, and was tested on WinXP, Vista and Win7 32/64 bit platforms with medium to high-end graphic cards. Specific requirements include:

Pentium IV 2.6 GHz (2GHz Duo2Core Intel and above or equivalent advised)
1 GB RAM and above
256 Mb DirectX 9 graphics card (512 Mb or higher recommended)
Word for Windows or Adobe Acrobat® Reader 6 minimal to read and print the manual.
220 MB of disk space

PRODUCT DISCLOSURE

Similar to any Flight Simulator (FS) Addon product, "Kosrae International" may have issues that are either default Microsoft-related or developer-related. Issues that are MS-related, whether documented or undocumented are many, but we can only speak for our product. Although there are no micro-stutters or huge lag in fps as tested, it is advisable to lower the Water Effects within FSX Display Settings to High 2x. and set Autogen down to respectable levels for fluidity. These are recommended for lower to medium-end systems, however the scenery is meant for sliders maxed at 100% peak for those computers who can afford the high level scenery design.

RECOMMENDED FSX SETTINGS

Frame rates from scenery complexity and autogen settings were averaged at 28fps and above. This includes moving sliders 100% to the right. Lower settings yielded much higher frames, but our recommendation is Dense to Extreme Dense for exceptional rates. Since the scenery is 30cm/pixel photoreal, it is highly recommended that Mesh Resolution be set at 1 meter within FSX Display Settings (slider 100% to the right). Texture Resolution should also be set at 30cm and above (or slider 100% to the right).

No technical issues were encountered during various beta tests, whether hardware or software- related. Instructions for installation of software are straightforward; however, venturing outside bounds of recommended installation and use is at sole discretion of End-User.

We will not bear responsibility for issues resulting from installation of the product, in part or full, into former Flight Simulator platforms which includes FS2004 because the product is not backward compatible. Furthermore, we will not be held responsible if files are altered within software for any reason associated with End-User taste or choice.

]]>Truth to be told Niagara Falls/Buffalo is not a US City only as it also covers quite a bit of Canada, but anyway: Being one of the world's greatest tourist attractions on the borderline between Canada and the United States, Niagara Falls will amaze you! The scenery comes with unprecedented detail in effects, animations and awe inspiring views.

There are three main helipads in the scenery, the major one for sightseeing flights on the Canadian side, a smaller one very close to the Falls on the US side of the river and a medical rooftop pad on the Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo. Furthermore the package includes a bunch of International Airports and small airfields in the area in nice detail.

US Cities X is a series of city scenery for FSX that covers US cities created by LimeSim. Based on an extensive aerial image it will have all the major buildings and landmarks plus all the airports and heliports that are inside the covered areas.

It is clearly intended to fill the gap between the default scenery and very high dense city scenery such as Manhattan X, London VFR or Venice X. Because the file size is rather large due to the ground image it only includes one season (in most cases this is not a real issue) and no night textures. The VFR flights over these cities are mostly a day time affair anyway.

]]>Andras Field is located at the foot of the alps in southern Bavaria, near the German/Swiss/Austrian border. Sixty minutes of fast cruising you can be in Milan for an evening of opera or in Berlin for some serious shopping. It started out as a military airport (the complete history is on the forum) and you will still see many parts that remind you of this past life.

Andras Field

Andras Field has a wide 5000 feet runway suitable for heavy aircraft (it used to be a military airport after all), a 6000 feet water runway, helicopter landing sites and even a long glider grass strip. Both the seaplane base as the airport got hangar space for visitors and for larger aircraft based on Andras Field. The project is very much intended to cater for all kinds of FSX flying.

There is a lot to explore at Andras Field and the near surroundings, even after you used it for a long time you will still find new animations and new objects (also because the project will be updated very regular). Just pick a new parking or a new taxi route and you are bound to see new stuff. Andras Field is also the place where our internal developers will test out new ideas and technologies. For example in this first edition we have used MoCap (Motion Capture) to show a whole new kind of animation. From people having an heated argument to people that are dancing. Of course sound effects of all kind are used to complete this.

And yes, Andras Field is a fictive airport. We wanted to create a new idea with new features and there just is no existing airfield that could bring what we needed. We needed artistic freedom to make this a very special place. We needed this liberty also so we could let the users create and manage this airport and all that comes with it. Aerosoft provides the base files and will change it continuously but the users will decide what is changing!

Andras Airpark

Directly to the east of Andras Field lies Andras Airpark. At this airpark, aviation enthusiasts or people who need an small aircraft for travel, can keep their private plane in their private hangar, just as other people keep their car in a garage. Airparks are relatively rare in Europe but well known in the USA where they seen to do well because it provides a safe (they are always closed, fenced in) communities for people who have some money and who like to be around similar minded people.

Andras Airpark is nothing more than a part of the scenery, but if you like the idea it is also possible to become a resident at Andras Airpark and own your own bit of land in the virtual FSX world. Not only do you get to park your aircraft in your own hangar, you also get to be part of the Andras Field community where the users decide how this project evolves. As users build their own houses well be upgrading the scenery files on a regular base so all the users see your house. There is a great deal of 'gameplay' involved in this. For example if the Andras Field Owners Association decides a new taxiway is needed, they will have to organize alternative taxi routes when work is being done. They also got to decide on regulations, are you allowed to taxi on the airpark after sunset or do you need to use one of the electric tractors available? There are now 70 plots but there is an option to add more when demand is high. If you like this idea you might consider jumping in early as the biggest decisions will have to be made soon after the release of the products. Of course there are forums available and Aerosoft will also support residents with some discounts.

Please note that this whole airpark idea is just an addition to the Andras Field product. If this is not your cup of tea you just see the airpark change and grow but you do not have to use it in any way.

Aero Files - Billund Airport FSX

]]>For the first time ever now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Billund Airport FSX. This airport has been made with extreme quality photoreal textures on the buildings. The model it self is so true to the real life airport, that you will be amazed. Billund Airport is the second largest airport in Denmark.

The airport has been beta tested several times by real world pilots, and by people whith inside knowledge of the airport structure and placement of each building. Also flight simulator fans as your self have been tesing this product, to make sure that it works as advertised, and it does work. Billund Airport was according to the online wikipedia.org site ranked as number 10 out of a few 100 in the nordic countries, when it came to the total passengers count for that year. The count was on 2,299,835 at the end of 2009.

Billund Airport is well known among several nations, but mostly in these areas: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, Germany, Iceland, United States and Netherlands just to mention a few of them.

Billund Airport is also well known from the theme park named Legoland. Legoland Billund is the original Legoland theme park, located in the middle of Jutland, the part of Denmark that "juts" up from Germany. Legoland Billund is located directly adjacent to the Billund Airport (Billund Lufthavn). (Legoland will be released as an extra download content free of charge later) Photoreal ground textures are also planned as an update later on.

Last time Billund Airport was released as an addon, was back with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. If you are still using Flight Simulator 2004, you are in luck. There will be a version for the old simulator at a later point.

Look at the screenshots and compare it to the real life airport, or simply to the old FS2004 version. It is not hard to tell the realism this product has. It has taken near 8 months to complete this project. Billund Airport FSX had a total of 24 fps on the test system, which was a I5 dual core processor with 4 GB Ram, and had just under 20 fps on a less greater system which also was used for testing

Nemeth Designs - CH-54A Skycrane

]]>The Sikorsky CH-54 Tarhe is a twin-engine heavy-lift helicopter designed by Sikorsky Aircraft for the United States Army. The first flight of the turboshaft-powered Skycrane was in 1962 and the U.S. Army purchased more than a hundred and designated them as CH-54. Used in Vietnam for troop transport with the attachable palletised container and downed-aircraft retrieval with the sling-load system, it was highly successful. The Skycrane can not only hold its cargo up and tight against its center spine to lessen drag and eliminate the pendulum effect when flying forward, it can winch vehicles up and down from a hovering position. After the Heavy Lift Helicopter program was cancelled the Skycranes remained in U.S. National Guard service until the early 1990s.

Today Erickson Air-Crane operates the largest fleet of this helicopter in the world under the name Erickson S-64E Aircrane which can be equipped with water-dropping equipment for firefighting duties. After obtaining the type certificate and manufacturing rights in 1992 Erickson Air-Crane remains the manufacturer and worlds largest operator of S-64s.

This addon represents both the CH-54A Tarhe and the Erickson S-64E Aircrane variants.
